In the past week, 44% more people with a positive corona test result were reported than in the week before. The largest increase can be seen in the number of reports of children aged 4 to 12 years. The number of reports increased in all regions. The number of new patients admitted to hospital with COVID-19 increased by 12%. 3% more new COVID-19 patients were admitted to ICU.
In the past week, 110,558 people received a positive test result. That's 44% more than the week before, when 76,790 people received a positive test result. The number of positive tests per 100,000 inhabitants increased from 439 to 628. Last week, 554,244 people were tested at the GGD. That is 33% more than the week before, when there were 417,925. The percentage of positive tests in the GGD test streets has increased from 17.2% to 19.6% (this includes testing after a positive self-test).
The number of reports of positive tests increased in all age groups and in all safety regions. We see an increase in the age group from 0 to 12 years. The majority of these reports concern children between the ages of 4 and 12, with the most positive reports in children between the ages of 10 and 11. Most positive test results per 100,000 inhabitants were reported in the following safety regions: Limburg-Zuid 828 reports, Zuid Holland-Zuid 813 reports, Limburg-Noord 755 reports, Hollands-Midden 745 reports and Zeeland 742 reports.
Vaccination status of people with a positive corona test
The vaccination status of 86% of the total of 208,253 reports of corona between 1 and 7 November was known. In people 12 years and older whose vaccination status was known, 44%, slightly less than half, had not been vaccinated or not fully vaccinated. At the moment, 17% of people aged 12 years and older are not or not fully vaccinated against corona.
Despite full vaccination, people can become infected with corona. Of every 100,000 people between the ages of 12 and 49 who are not or not fully vaccinated, an average of 58 people tested positive per day. For fully vaccinated individuals between the ages of 12 and 49, this figure was 19 per 100,000 fully vaccinated individuals over the same period.
Also in the older age groups, the number of positive tests per 100,000 inhabitants was lower among the fully vaccinated people than among the people who were not or not fully vaccinated. The differences in the number of reports between vaccinated and non-vaccinated people do decrease in the older age groups.
Hospital and ICU admissions
The number of people admitted to hospital with COVID-19 increased by 12% from 1,240 to 1,390 people. 3% more new COVID-19 patients were admitted to ICU than the week before: 217 people in the past week, compared to 211 people a week earlier. Hospital admissions vary by region. In the past week, compared to the number of inhabitants in the region, most patients with COVID-19 were admitted to hospitals in the regions of Noord en Oost Gelderland, Limburg Zuid, Zuid Holland-Zuid, Limburg Noord and Gelderland-Zuid.
The reproduction number increased from 1.19 to 1.21. This means that 100 people who have corona together infect 121 new people.
